Garden Maintenance Services
Healthy, flourishing gardens require consistent care. New Leaf Eco Landscapes offers garden maintenance contracts for routinely scheduled visits. While meeting traditional maintenance standards, we are firm believers that every garden can play an important role in the greater ecosystem. We work by this ideology, using ecologically sound practices and encouraging native pollinator-friendly plants whenever possible.
Our maintenance contracts include:
-
Spring cleaning - When temperatures are consistently 55°F we begin the season by cutting back herbaceous perennials and removing leaves from the previous fall, upon request.
-
Removing weeds and dead/dying plant material - This service reduces the habitat for unwanted, aggressive plants, invasive pests and fungal issues.
-
Deadheading flowers to promote more blooms - Throughout the season we trim certain spent flowers after they have bloomed to encourage more blooms. Leading up to fall, we keep the spent flowers as they go to seed to provide food and habitat for birds & beneficial insects over the winter.
-
Mulching - When needed, we freshen mulch in garden beds to maintain a 2-3” depth and tree rings to a 3-4” depth.
-
Pruning shrubs and small trees - Removing dead or damaged branches helps promote a natural, healthy, full shape and pruning any branches growing too close to buildings will protect the structure.
-
Removing unhealthy plants - We remove unhealthy or otherwise compromised plants to protect the health of the larger landscape, and we encourage the use of native perennials, grasses, or shrubs in their place.
-
Identifying and controlling pests - We use hand-picking strategies and appropriate traps to control invasive pests.
-
Protection from animal browse - We use a variety of different fencing methods, as well as deer repellent stakes to keep deer, groundhogs, and other wildlife away.
